What is Integral Yoga?

Integral Yoga, developed by Sri Aurobindo and his collaborator Mirra Alfassa, known as "The Mother", is a holistic approach to spiritual and personal development. This philosophy embraces every aspect of life, aiming at the integral transformation of the human being on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels.

In contrast to other forms of yoga that focus mainly on physical discipline or meditation, Integral Yoga seeks to integrate every aspect of human experience into a path towards spiritual evolution. This includes practices such as asanas (physical postures), pranayama (breath control), meditation, the study of sacred scriptures, selfless service (karma yoga) and the development of consciousness.

Sri Aurobindo's Integral Yoga emphasises the importance of evolutionary consciousness and personal transformation as a contribution to the evolution of humanity as a whole.

It suggests that every individual has the potential to realise a higher consciousness and to contribute to the creation of a more conscious and harmonious society.

The practice of Integral Yoga is adaptable to individual needs and can be applied in every sphere of daily life, whether at work, in interpersonal relationships or in everyday activities.

The primary aim is to attain union with the Divine and to manifest that divine consciousness in everyday life.
